Everything you need to know before stepping onto the mats for the first time.
- What should I wear for my first gi session?
Comfortable clothing – Make sure the attire allows for a wide range of motion. fitted athletic wear, such as a T-shirt and shorts or spats is a great choice.
Avoid loose and baggy clothing with pockets, zippers or anything that could cause injury to you or your training partners.
- Can I try the class before signing in?
Yes, you’ll be able to join a class which will last between 60-75 mins. Please input your details in the “Book a free class” tab on the Memberships page and a member of the team will contact you.
- What will happen in a class?
Most classes consist of a warm up followed by some techniques then some sparring.
- What is sparring?
No kicking or punching (BJJ), students try to use the grappling techniques they have learnt against a fully resisting opponent. Students must never try and hurt each other, techniques must be applied with control and as soon as your opponent submits (taps) he must be released.
